You’ll provide hands on technical and laboratory support to the EPMC, supporting both internal combustion engine and electrification product manufacturing, ensuring quality, robustness and compliance across our production processes.
WHAT TO EXPECT
At the heart of this role is delivering high quality metallurgical analysis to ensure components meet demanding engineering and drawing specifications, while supporting fault diagnosis and continuous improvement.
On completion of testing, you’ll produce clear, accurate test reports, communicate results to key stakeholders, escalate issues where required, and interrogate SPC data to identify trends, risks and improvement opportunities.
- Assessing components using a range of metallurgical test processes, in line with engineering specifications, drawings, or to support investigation of failures and non conformances
- Carrying out mechanical teardowns using a variety of destructive testing tools and techniques
- Performing non destructive testing of welds, including Visual Weld Inspection and Ultrasonic Testing
- Completing routine quality control inspections to support production, new model launches and continuous improvement activities
- Creating robust test plans and work procedures aligned to ISO standards, reviewing draft engineering specifications, supporting cross functional investigations, and liaising with machining, Global Manufacturing
- Engineering and Current Manufacturing Engineering teams
This is a highly visible role where your findings directly influence product quality and manufacturing decisions.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
Along with your drive to achieve the exceptional, you’ll bring strong technical capability and a proactive, problem solving mindset. You will need:
- Previous experience using materials testing and preparation equipment, with knowledge and practical application of techniques such as hardness and tensile testing
- Applied metallurgical knowledge of steel and aluminium, including interpretation of metallic microstructures
- The ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications with confidence
- An understanding of, or familiarity with, automotive systems, manufacturing practices and procedures
- A strong working knowledge of laboratory safety practices, with the confidence to identify and act on potential concerns
- Experience using investigative and quality tools to identify root causes and implement effective solutions
- Good computer skills, including Excel, Word and PowerPoint
