We are recruiting a manufacturing or production professional as a Tooling Engineer to provide engineering and technical support to the Operations team at Electric Propulsion Manufacturing Centre in Wolverhampton.
You will help to develop process improvements, analyse quality issues, understand tooling properties, coordinate technical change and liaise between departments to correctly identify the root cause of an issue and then install a robust countermeasure to ensure the same issue does not occur again. You would need to be able to understand the tools of problem solving and drive resolution.
WHAT TO EXPECT
- Act as the primary interface for the Head/Block or Crank teams, resolving tooling, process, and assembly issues.
- Oversee a range of machine tools and assembly systems, including metal cutting, testing, automated/manual assembly, cleanliness processes, and metrology systems.
- Define and deliver optimised tooling to support product design and manufacturing performance.
- Drive continuous improvement by introducing new technologies, resolving customer issues, improving process capability, and supporting daily production.
- Lead accurate problem solving activities and maintain ongoing development of new skills, technologies, and methods.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
Along with your ambition to achieve the exceptional, there are several skills that you’ll need to have to help you succeed here, including:
- Knowledge of high-precision machining processes (particularly milling, drilling, reaming, boring, honing etc) is essential and proven experience of facility installation; commissioning and launch would be highly desirable.
- An individual with the capability to combine a short term, pragmatic focus with medium term planning.
- A resilient and enthusiastic individual who responds constructively to new ideas and inputs.
- Good problem-solving skills and an ability to work with multiple sets of data simultaneously.Willingness to learn and develop new methods to increase own and the team’s effectiveness.
