Salary: £31,000 with a £2,000 joining bonus, rising to £38,000 on completion of the programme

Enjoy a variety of roles across several different pathways, each helping deliver the most iconic modern luxury brands in the automotive industry. Each role has certain entry requirements and involves a variety of work across many teams and functions within JLR. You can only apply for one pathway – so choose carefully.

Our Commercial team is constantly evolving to ensure we continue to offer differentiated modern luxury brands that attract and retain customers in a fast-changing digital world. With a new organisational structure to deliver our Reimagine strategy, we are focusing on the key pillars of growth, digital transformation, simplicity and go-to-market. Meanwhile, our House of Brands teams are responsible for defining our commercial vision across the Range Rover, Defender, Discovery and Jaguar portfolios – each iconic and each with its own interpretation of modern luxury.

The Commercial Business pathway is focussed on our commercialisation strategy – planning, optimising and growing our business. During the graduate programme, you’ll get the opportunity to undertake missions to broaden your experience and feed your curiosity and the chance to undertake six-monthly rotations across the following areas such as:

Customer Experience - Focused on collaborations between commercial, digital and our partner, Tata Consultancy, to ensure the most effective implementation of our online digital customer experience programme.

Communications & Insights (C&I) - Taking briefs from the branding teams, C&I translates objectives into world-beating customer communications and insights whilst delivering driving experiences, branded goods and partnerships that position us as the future of modern luxury.

Market & Business Operations (M&BO) - M&BO focuses on our key pillars and drives volume planning and reporting to transform our commercial performance.

Customer Care Strategy & Operation - Everything we do is about delighting the customer and exceeding expectations. This means achieving seamless processes, creating valuable services and getting things right first time, every time, to create a fault-free experience for our drivers.


What you'll need

For the Commercial Business Graduate Programme, you will need to hold or be on track to achieve at least a 2.2 degree in a business-related subject (business, economics, marketing, human resources).

In addition, you will have real passion for problem-solving and the curiosity to understand business challenges and deliver innovative solutions. You will also have strong numerical and interpersonal skills and the confidence to champion new initiatives.

Please note that to apply to our graduate programmes, you must have obtained a degree or be expecting to achieve your degree in the current academic year. All our graduate programmes have a fixed start date, commencing 9th September 2024.

If you progress to the next stage we’ll ask you to complete a series of short online tests which you will complete independently. The next stage is the virtual assessment centre. This consists of a presentation exercise and behavioural interview. You’ll be provided with a preparation guide to help you at this final stage.

We’ll share the outcome of your assessment centre within 2 weeks of you completing it. If you are successful, we’ll make you a verbal offer and confirm this in writing via email.

Start with corporate and local inductions into JLR, in September 2024. Receive an overview of our business and future strategic direction, network with other joiners / key stakeholders including our D&I networks and experience the workplace for the first time! You’ll also get more details of your graduate programme and learning curriculum, gain exposure to our vehicles and meet the early careers team, here to support you at every step.

The graduate programme will not only provide industry insight, but will help you develop key business skills including communication, self-management, problem solving, influencing and leadership. You’ll receive a blended learning approach over the course of year 1 including face-to-face workshops, virtual classrooms and on-demand content delivered by Ashorne Hill. Lifelong learning – To support your skills development and experiential learning, you’ll be given 20% protected off-the-job learning time, giving you the ability to further your development and achieve the requirements of your graduate programme.

Manufacturing is the heart of our business operations and helps us deliver the exceptional vehicles we deliver to our customers. You’ll get the chance to undertake a week-long placement on the manufacturing line and gain an appreciation of the immense effort that goes into each vehicle we create. You’ll also have the option of a further 1-week experience in another business function such as early careers, commercial, company quality and others, to gain different insights and experiences than a typical day-to-day in your home department.

Own your own journey. Apply your degree to real-world business issues as part of your role. You’ll have the ability to complete rotational placements as part of your two-year programme, broadening your knowledge of the business function and building connections with new stakeholders. Expect to gain tangible examples on where you have positively impacted the business and further your personal and professional skills. Depending on your function, there may also be the opportunity for you to gain further qualifications during your 2nd year.

The GIC is an initiative run by JLR across year 2 of your programme. You’ll have the opportunity to develop innovative solutions to current business issues, working collaboratively with other JLR graduates globally. Your 20% off-the-job time will support your self-development and project work. Each group will have the opportunity to present their pioneering solutions to senior leaders within the business, with winners often receiving prizes and funding to incorporate their idea into JLR in the future!

Finish your graduate programme with a recognition event, designed to showcase your experiences and celebrate your fantastic achievements.
