SOFTWARE ENGINEERING

Software gives us our edge. It makes our thinking come alive in the real world. This option will show you how to design, build and test our ground-breaking software. You’ll also learn how to integrate engineering principles which deliver superior analysis, development and built-in security.

In the third and fourth year of your Apprenticeship, you can choose to specialise in modules including; Real-time Operating Systems and Industrial Vision & Processing.

This pathway could lead to working in any of the following areas; Body Chassis, Electrical Engineering, Powertrain, Product Engineering Operations, IT.

Entry requirements

GCSE Maths and English Language at level 5 or higher and in addition a further 3 GCSEs at level 5 or higher.

A level Maths grade C or higher and an additional A level in Physics; Chemistry; Design & Technology; ICT; Computer Science; Economics or Engineering at grade C or higher*.

To be eligible for our Digital & Technology Solutions degree apprenticeship programmes you will need to demonstrate a passion for technology and strong motivation for the role. You will also need to meet our academic entry criteria detailed above for each pathway.

In addition to these academic requirements at the assessment stage we will also look for evidence of other qualifications, knowledge, experience or qualities – for example a third A level or other further academic qualifications; a substantial time in employment or voluntary activity; a technical project or hobby or substantial responsibilities as a carer.

* There are a limited number of alternative qualifications that we would deem to be equivalent to our set entry requirements including the International Baccalaureate (IB) and Scottish Highers. If you are studying a BTEC qualification, this needs to be coupled with an A Level. You will need to contact our recruitment team at apprent@jaguarlandrover.com ahead of submitting an application if you do not have A Levels.

What to expect

Our Apprenticeship programmes offer the perfect blend of personal and professional training and development. We encourage you to think big, showcase creativity and innovation. Learn from industry experts and support networks who are there for you every step of the way. Develop experiences which will provide you with real-life industry insights to support you in the completion of your degree. Excel and you will be offered a substantive role with us.

As well as working in key teams within our Product Engineering and Digital functions at Jaguar Land Rover, you will study for a BSc in Digital and Technology Solutions (DTS) with the University of Warwick (Warwick Manufacturing Group (WMG)).

Throughout the first three years of your apprenticeship, you will study 14 core modules, delivered through a combination of block teaching weeks, online study and independent learning. In the fourth year of your apprenticeship, you will work towards a work based project which will form a part of your end point assessment (EPA). The learning you acquire with the University of Warwick you will apply directly to your job role at Jaguar Land Rover.

You will receive support throughout your time on the programme from the Apprenticeship Delivery team, university staff support, management and functional support.

To pass your Apprenticeship, you must pass your End Point Assessment (EPA). Your EPA will take place in the months leading up to the end of your apprenticeship, and is graded as a pass, merit or distinction. Your EPA will test the knowledge, skills and behaviours that you have gained through your apprenticeship. Your Cohort Leader will guide you through this point in your apprenticeship, in addition to the support you will also receive from your education provider and line manager.

You will also graduate in the same way as a traditional University route, graduating with either a pass, merit or distinction in your apprenticeship and a degree certificate from the University of Warwick.
