WHAT TO EXPECT

 

We have opened a brand new and exciting role; An ADAS Mechanical Integration Engineer within the Assisted and Automated Driving (AAD) Sensor Group. This role is critical for delivering AAD & motion technologies across present and future model years.

The focus is within the team that develops, integrates and maintains all ADAS sensors (Radar, Lidar, Camera and Ultrasonic). The team is responsible for the engineering tasks and deliverables to enable the AAD systems and features across multiple defined programmes.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

 

The successful candidate will need to understand the mechanical sensor sub system, understanding the mechanical, position and interface requirements of different ADAS sensors including Lidar, Radar, Camera and Ultrasonic components. You will need to understand how to robustly implement and design ADAS sensor installations within a vehicle environment. You will evaluate the impacts and suitability of this environment considering factors such as vibration, temperature, positional tolerances and sensor obscuration.

The ideal candidate will have experience of virtual test, component test and vehicle testing including proving ground environments. You will also have experience of Component and system level issue investigations including appropriate problem solving and reporting tools (Six Sigma, 5D, Is / Is Not, Fault Tree etc)

 

Knowledge, skills and experience

Essential

 

  • Experience in product development for ADAS sensors (radar, ultrasonic, camera or lidar)

  • Specific sensor technical knowledge (radar, ultrasonic, camera or lidar)

  • Experience in sensor simulation tools for model generation and requirements validation

  • Experience with key integration concepts such as tolerance, vibration, thermal, power, and data

  • Systems engineering and V-cycle development practical experience in automotive environment

  • Structured problem resolution experience (e.g. 8D methodology)

  • Good verbal and written communications

  • Track record as an effective team player with strong interpersonal skills

  • Full driving licence

  • Relevant engineering degree or equivalent experience (e.g. Mechtronics, Mechanical, Electronics, Robotics, etc)

 

Desirable:

  • Experience in Automotive Engineering Delivery and in solving complex technical issues using a structured approach

  • Proficient in modelling, data collection, data analysis, and statistical analysis tools (e.g. Python, MATLAB)

  • Experience in organisation working within the agile framework

  • Knowledge and overview of Jaguar Land Rover Toolsets, release processes, requirement and issue management (AIMs, RMDV, CORVUS, ASL, Snapshot)

  • Class 3 driving license (Jaguar Land Rover internal process), or equivalent.  Area will support internal process

  • PCDS and Engineering Delivery Frameworks

  • PhD or research experience in automotive sensors
