On-board Charging Compatibility is an Electrification Powertrain based team responsible for cross brand development and delivery of the vehicle high voltage on board charger including appropriate system design, control strategies and supporting commodities such as the charge Inlets, Cables, Couplers and Supply Equipment. Power Electronics is heavily involved in current and future electrification vehicle programmes and is thereby actively contributing to the JLR route map. Reporting to the Charging System & Commodity Snr Mgr, the successful applicant will have full responsibility for delivery for on board charging solutions.


Key Responsibilities


  • Lead design, development and validation of the high voltage vehicle on board chargers.
  • Manage the plan, cost, quality, risk and requirement changes for market  requirements
  • Lead issue resolution for all quality related actions (occasional travel may be required);
  • Maintain the coherence of a small team through effective involvement and communication.
  • Develop and manage supplier relationships of applicable projects.




In this role you'll need Extensive experience of High Voltage Power electronics and EV charging systems knowledge and experiance, you'll be expected to have experience of design, validation and delivery. You'll need strong knowledge of charging standards namely CCS / COMBO, GBT DC charging and CHAdeMO. You'll need Project management capabilities with excellent execution skills and the ability to multitask as well as being comfortable challenging with strong influencing and engagement skills - able to challenge existing thinking in a positive way whilst building credibility and trust through experience and personal style.


Skills, experience and qualifications



  • Extensive experience of High Voltage Power electronics
  • Experience of Charging Systems (must have experience of design, validation and delivery)
  • Strong knowledge of charging standards namely CCS / COMBO, GBT DC charging and CHAdeMO.
  • Strong Communication skills.
  • Competent in Issue resolution methodology and application (e.g. 8D)
  • Knowledge of Systems V and application.



  • Electronic modelling (e.g. MATLAB’s Simscape)
  • Knowledge of network (e.g. 7 Layers of the OSI Model, CAN Bus)
  • Knowledge of Vehicle level architecture
