Special Vehicle Operations (SVO) are a key part of the SO Organisation delivering World Class Products that amplify our core brand values in Ultimate Luxury, Ultimate Sports Performance and Ultimate Capability. SVO are a Performance based organisation with a Formula 1 team mind-set that requires the best engineers to strengthen its capabilities.

 

You will be responsible for managing the Engineering Team that will specify, engineer and deliver applications engineering for SVO Propulsion ICE Systems. This will include systems such as Air Intake, Exhausts and Fuels, meeting all defined targets and attributes (technical and commercial – on cost, quality and time).

 

You will manage a multi-disciplinary team through the engineering, definition, sourcing and delivery of components for SVO vehicle programs, ensuring robust status at all programme gateways up to and including start of production.

 

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

 

  • Delivery of ICE systems to class leading attribute requirements.
  • Manage a multi-disciplinary team to evaluate concepts, features and alternatives, develop production drawings.
  • Manage matrix reports - coordinate and influence a cross-functional team to ensure robust delivery. Lead a team through the engineering, sourcing and delivery of components for vehicle programs on time, quality and cost.
  • Build, maintain and manage relationships with internal and external suppliers and senior stakeholders. Manage conflict and negotiate between parties, where required, to maintain engagement whilst delivering against plan.
  • Manage component costs, investment, vendor tooling and design and developmen.t
  • Develop, agree and deliver the test plan, confirm parts availability for all stages and ensure cross-functional requirements are integrated in module development.
  • Manage project cadence and ensure transparent communication and escalation through:
  • Developing and maintaining the Module Plan.
  • Planning and chairing effective Module Meetings.
  • Monitoring tasks across the life cycle of the project.
  • Act as the interface between SVO specific Programme Management, Product Strategy, Advanced Product Creation, vehicle Engineering and Marketing teams to ensure the programme delivers the expected product actions in a robust manner.
  • Technical leadership and development of a team of highly skilled HV battery system engineers.
  • Responsible for coaching and mentoring a team of senior engineers.

 

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

 

  • Degree in an Engineering discipline with a minimum of 5 years relevant experience.
  • Experience in delivering Powertrain Systems e.g. Air intake, exhaust, cooling, fuels.
  • Experience of budget and target management.
  • Proven ability to build and manage multiple internal and external relationships in complex stakeholder environments and communicate up to senior management levels within a business.
  • Demonstrate proven track record of leading / managing cross functional Technical Teams and delivery.
  • Proven experience of Programme management, meeting demanding timescales, quality targets, engineering specifications, budget controls and cost effective delivery.
  • Experience of full Product cycle delivery - concept to production, including Launch processes.
  • Experience of solving complex technical issues using a structured approach with the ability to identify areas for improvement.
