As Performance & Economy Project Engineer you will be a key member of the P&E team, which is responsible for attribute development of performance, emissions and fuel economy and the combustion system development

 

Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities:

  • Principally responsible for delivery of engine attribute demonstration, ensuring demonstration and development tasks are delivered on time and to the required data quality and delivery standards.
  • Ensure tests executed to correct procedures & operating conditions, accurately and produce high quality data.
  • Establish, maintain and communicate accurate test plans, that clearly identify the timing and specific requirements of test facilities required.
  • Support continuous improvement activity including creation and maintenance of JLR company standards relevant to role
  • Ensure validation tracking system is updated in line with test delivery.
  • Ensure appropriate utilisation metrics are accurately completed.
  • Compile accurate technical reports for P&E tests as evidence for attribute development and attribute demonstration and communicate clearly to all stakeholders.
  • Ensure P&E tests are conducted safely.
  • Support relevant technical reviews and lead/support issue resolution through established processes and standard JLR tools.
  • Interface with customers of the department efficiently. Lead interaction with test facilities and instrumentation departments, resolving any conflicts or escalating issues for resolution as necessary.

 

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

 

You will need to have a passion for the automotive industry. You will be a dynamic and determined individual, highly driven, committed and results-orientated with significant pace, energy and confidence. Able to combine a short term, pragmatic focus with strategic vision. A “can-do attitude is a must with the confidence to challenge existing thinking in a positive way whilst building credibility and trust through experience and personal style.

 

Technically you will need:

  • Proven knowledge of engine engineering.
  • Knowledge of engine components and systems.
  • Understanding of design principles and the application of quality tools within an engine engineering environment.
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent in relevant engineering discipline.
  • Experience within engine product development or design environment.
  • Knowledge of problem-solving and quality tools is essential.
  • Highly self-motivated and able to act on initiative.
  • Strong MS Office skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Project).
  • Experience and proficiency with AVL Concerto and ETAS INCA software
  • Experience with DOE-based engine optimization procedures and software tools such as AVL Cameo
