WHAT TO EXPECT 

 

You will be will be responsible for the design, development, testing and introduction of Traction Inverter Electronics components and sub-assemblies in support of Jaguar Land Rovers future electrified powertrains.

 

You will be responsible for:

  • Technical ownership of electronic circuitry and sub-components through whole product development lifecycle
  • Responsible for the on time delivery of the electronics hardware plan in line with quality and cost targets
  • Collaborate with internal multidisciplinary engineering teams to ensure design targets are met (e.g. Mechanical team, PCB Design, Embedded Software, Controls, E-Machine)
  • Ensure all appropriate JLR requirements and standards are met throughout product development lifecycle
  • Develop and maintain engineering design documentation for electronics circuitry and sub-components
  • Support relevant Engineering Advanced Product Quality Planning deliverables in line with PPAP process
  • Lead resolution of key development, launch and ongoing quality issues involving power electronic assemblies
  • Provide input into new feature development
     

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

 

Essential:

  • Degree qualified in Electrical or Electronic Engineering discipline as a minimum
  • Minimum of 2.5 years electronics design experience in a relevant industry (Automotive, Marine, Traction or similar)
  • Proven microprocessor implementation experience
  • Knowledge of analogue and digital circuit design for complex automotive ECUs
  • Experience of automotive communication protocols and hardware (Flexray, CAN, CAN-FD, LIN)
  • Simulation of electronic circuitry (Preferably with LTSpice)
  • Strong first principles approach with experience delivering tolerance and lifetime calculations
  • Failure mode avoidance experience with demonstrable knowledge of associated processes such as DFMEA and FTA
  • Knowledge of ISO26262 with experience developing hardware work products in support of safety team
  • Knowledge of best practice approaches for design in accordance with global EMC standards
  • Experience developing and executing electronics validation plans
  • Competent user of schematic capture tools (Preferably with Altium Designer)
     

Desirable:

  • Experience developing electronics for inverters with working voltages up to 1000V and power ratings in excess of 150kW
  • Knowledge of electrified vehicle architectures & platforms
  • Chartered Engineer or working towards chartered status
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with strong influencing and engagement skills
  • Automotive development experience
  • Proven experience designing products for high volume manufacture
