WHAT TO EXPECT
The Critical Concerns team is responsible for identifying issues related to JLR products where there may be an unreasonable risk to safety or compliance. This covers vehicles in use with customers, within the retail network, within vehicle distribution and within manufacturing plants These issues are identified as Critical Concerns and the responsible Critical Concerns Senior Engineer leads the investigation with the person most knowledgeable within JLR.
The role of the Critical Concerns engineer is to ensure timely investigation into Critical Concerns inputs received.
WHAT YOU’LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR
- Jointly, with the broader Critical Concerns’ Team, engage in the methodical and robust progression of Critical Concern investigations, producing accurate records and working cross-functionally to drive prompt resolution by supporting departments.
- Arrange and chair review meetings with Critical Concern owners to manage and progress investigation delivery.
- Identify Critical Concern issues for progression to the Product Safety and Compliance Committee (PSCC).
- Developing and interpret the corresponding data, to produce reasoned cases and arguments in support of progression of the issue through to PSCC.
- Interface with STA and Manufacturing associates (PQ and CME) Product Investigation Engineers, Dealer Technical Support Engineers, for queries relating to Critical Concerns.
- In line with the department’s customer focus, write responses to Critical Concern enquiries from global markets.
- Represent the Global Critical Concerns department internally, and externally, to JLR.
- Lead Technical investigations with project teams into prototype fleet investigations
- Complete the closure process of applicable CC investigations.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
Essential:
- Educated to degree level, in an Engineering or appropriate Science subject a closely related discipline is preferred OR equivalent experience.
- Excellence in interpersonal skills and ability to present and articulate a clear point of view at all levels within the business.
- Proficient in problem solving, analysis of data using Microsoft Excel, it is expected that 6 Sigma greenbelt training will be completed in the role.
- Clear Communication of information using Word and PowerPoint.
Desirable:
- Broad whole vehicle system knowledge
- A working knowledge of Quality Operating Systems processes, mapping and investigation tools and techniques.
- Proficient in AWS and IQM
- Experience of working in a customer facing part of the organisation, with an understanding of considerations in respect of Product Liability legislation and careful communication.
- Capable of CAD model review for validation of design in market (are vehicles built to design)
- Green Belt, Black Belt or Statistical Analysis.
- Vehicle systems integration, functionality, diagnostic or Telematics knowledge.
- ISO 26262 Competence and understanding
- Knowledgeable within vehicle electrical/Electronic architecture
