WHAT TO EXPECT


This team forms part of the Test System Design team, a key service provider for the next generation of electrified propulsion systems. We are responsible for integrating complex electrified prototype systems into the physical test environment. 


The team provide System Designs to the operational teams and outsourced test partners that form the Propulsion Test Operations team within Engineering Operations at JLR. 


You will be responsible for developing test systems to enable the development, verification and validation of JLRs future propulsion systems.


Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities


•    Work collaboratively with key stakeholders to gather testing requirements and develop a detailed project plan. 
•    Collaborate with the Central Planning Team to deliver projects to our defined end to end process. 
•    Be a member of a squad responsible for decomposing test requirements in order to architect a system to support development and validation activities,  delivering high quality system designs including :
o    Requirements capture, working across multiple CoCs,
o    System Architecture,
o    Network Architecture,
o    Low Voltage Wiring Designs,
o    High Voltage Wiring and breakout box designs,
o    Generation of Bill of Materials,
o    Simulation Requirements and Specifications.
•    Work in unison with the lead operations engineers with the responsibility of handing over system designs for them to implement and operate. 
•    Deliver continuous improvement projects to ensure the team is constantly developing, striving for high quality and efficient output.
•    Be a champion for process control, ensuring all processes are regularly reviewed, updated and maintained. To support all activities that result in a positive outcome from any audit, e.g. IATF 16949, ISO 45001, ISO 14001.
•    Research emerging technologies, link their usage to the test environment and propose delivery solutions.
•    Identify dependencies early and work to resolve them so they don’t become obstacles to the success of the project and report KPIs that demonstrate the team’s performance against the Business’ ambition.


WHAT YOU’LL NEED 


Knowledge, Skills and Experience


•    Experience delivering projects and developing complex systems in an Agile environment, ideally with experience implementing Scrum.
•    Experience designing and/or validating electrified powertrains. 
•    Experience integrating complex systems.
•    The ability to evaluate and appropriately challenge existing ideas, processes and ways of working to improve the team’s performance. 
•    Ability to accurately and concisely present and demystify complex technical ideas or project issues to a diverse audience.
•    The ability to travel freely between JLR’s engineering sites and test partners.
•    Experience with design and/or implementation of:
o    Automotive networks,
o    Low Voltage Electrical Distribution Systems,
o    Hazardous Voltage Electrical Distribution Systems,
o    Hazardous Voltage Instrumentation,
o    Hardware in Loop simulation,
