The purpose of this role is to support the design, development, testing and introduction of SVO unique Chassis components, within the Steering, Wheels and Tyres (SWAT) team. 


  • As a project engineer, own the development and validation of Chassis SWAT commodities.
  • Support component 2D and 3D geometry maturation in line with the development, directly coordinating design engineers.
  • Manage relevant supplier teams in support of delivery of the programme milestones
  • Manage a complex variety of change requests across multiple programmes, prioritising work appropriately within the wider business context
  • If required, work closely with the design studio team to ensure A-Surface styling will meet engineering targets
  • Deliver the commodity plan to quality, cost and time, including maintaining the Worldwide Engineering Release System (WERS)
  • Own and deliver the Engineering Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) deliverables
  • Manage DV and PV test plans, including detailed planning of test and development stages through to sign off and support engineering test teams with rectification of issues
  • Resolve issues with component engineering and vehicle attribute teams to develop designs that meet targets
  • Ensure all appropriate JLR standards are met through-out design maturation
  • Ensure all programme design solutions meet: Programme targets for cost and weight, Legal regulations and Requirements Management & Design Verification documentation
  • Keep all Module documentation up to date including: Meeting minutes, Design verification plan, Quality history and bill of design, eAPQP/Smartsheets
  • Undertake any other work as directed by their line manager in connection with their job as may be requested





  • Knowledge of the design and development of Chassis components.
  • Experience with product creation & delivery, change control, product definition and change management processes
  • Previous experience of managing resolution of business, technical and process issues within a project team environment, applying a data driven approach.
  • Experience in Microsoft Office software and CAD tools.
  • Degree or relevant equivalent experience preferred
  • An individual with a customer first mind set who is easy to do business with and makes people feel special, driven to deliver experiences that are personalised, transparent and dependable. 



  • Technical knowledge and automotive engineering experience of the design and development of Steering Systems, Wheels or Tyres.
  • Capability in using Virtual Engineering tools CATIA V5 or CATIA V6.
  • Experience of delivering projects in an automotive or manufacturing environment   
  • Knowledge of Chassis components manufacturing techniques
  • Knowledge of component design for high performance applications
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with strong influencing and engagement skills
