JOB TITLE: Driveline Controls Engineer
SALARY: £48,000 - £54,000

Our Chassis Software Delivery team are currently looking for a Lead Controls Engineer to form part of our Chassis & Motion Control Systems Department. Our team provides control system and software design and development expertise for existing and future chassis related features such as Suspension & Damping Control, Terrain Response, Auto Terrain Response and Driveline Control.  

You’ll be stepping into one of two Lead roles alongside our Lead Driveline Controls Engineer and be responsible for delivering a robust driveline control software to act as a high-level control of various driveline systems.
The software you will be working on provides suitable torque distribution to our vehicles to create desirable handling performance whilst also maintaining stability.


Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities


This position will see you leading a team, to design and develop model-based driveline control strategies. This will include the development and demonstration of new concepts and systems via desktop simulation and concept vehicles, as well as working with our software engineers to improve and update the existing systems. 


You will be working within a team of system and software engineers as well as our offshore team to deliver concept and production systems in a timely manner according to vehicle programme timing as well as local delivery milestones. One of the prerequisites for the role will be experience/knowledge of requirements analysis and decomposition, control strategy design, development and execution of validation process and associated simulation environments.


You’ll also be expected to coach the junior members of the team to help develop their controls and core business skills. 
Essential Skills & Requirements


•    Thorough understanding of Control System design and development using the Mathworks toolchain (Matlab / Simulink / Stateflow) for real time applications
•    Experience of control strategy development and delivery through all stages of the engineering development ‘V’ cycle, including understanding of system and software engineering principals
•    Understand chasis systems, vehicle dynamics.
