WHAT TO EXPECT

 

The Battery team within Electrification Core engineering requires an experienced engineer to apply world class problem solving and analysis skills to improve Jaguar Land Rover's capability to achieve high levels of reliability and robustness.

 

The HV batteries Quality lead engineer is the technical focal point for C&C Quality issue resolution. He/she is responsible for interface with core team SMEs, problem solving technical guidance, generic Quality issue management planning, process development, application and alignment across the battery Quality team. They lead the battery quality issue resolution delivery across all programs in their respective areas and are directly responsible for the D2 to D4 elements of the 8D process.

 

 

WHAT YOU’LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR

 

  • Drive development of Core Engineering & Integration Engineering DFMEAs , Design review based on failure modes (DRBFMs), Functional failure analysis (FFAs). 
  • Work with component, sub-systems and system owners to communise approaches for tools, analysis techniques, processes and reports in order to delivery benchmark DFMEA’s for batteries
  • Lead governance of 8D process D7 step of Prevent re-occurrence
  • Prevent recurrence initiation at D4 step with battery core engineering
  • Be the voice of the customer at Evidence based engineering reviews (EBER) and supplier review with IQM data
  • Applying lessons learnt and best practises through PR-AIMs
  • Responsible for battery PR-AIMs status
  • Customer issue resolution delivery and problem-solving technical excellence through 8D & DMAIC problem solving methodologies

 

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

 

Essential:  

  • Degree in relevant engineering discipline or in associated subjects such as electronics, electrical engineering or other technical qualifications.
  • Experience of creating design FMEA’s
  • Experience of Failure Mode Avoidance (FMA) analysis tools such as p-diagrams, robustness checklist, system / function analysis
  • A knowledge of typical BEV, MHEV and PHEV system solutions and technologies.
  • Experience of HV battery systems
  • Understanding of control systems hardware, including sensor technology, control software and diagnostics.
  • Strong people skills and the ability to work individually and in a cross functional team
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Experience of meeting deadlines.
  • Working Knowledge of Problem Resolution Techniques e.g. 8D
  • The ability to make effective decisions in the best interest of the business and customer
  • The ability to understand commodity timing plans (including Design Verification plans, programme plans and supplier timing plans)
  • Knowledge of battery systems
  • Good appreciation of design for the automotive environment.
  • An appreciation of system level issues and software is required

 

Desired

  • Proficient use of Reliasoft for DFMEA development
  • Proficient use of the PR-AIMS issue resolution process
  • Familiarity with RMDV or DOORS
  • Familiarity with JLR SDOTS
  • Product launch experience
  • Knowledge of CCDS, PCDS & APQP processes
  • Knowledge of systems engineering
