What to expect

 

The person in this role will have the responsibility of leading the design and development of harmonised thermal systems solutions. System design responsibility will include the integration of multiple interconnected components and all system interfaces for Jaguar Land Rover vehicles products.

The person in this role as part of the CORE thermal fluids group is required to deploy heat flux management thermal system technologies from core architectural designs into specific programmes. This role will require the necessary expertise, competence using methods defined by core thermal fluid group to integrate to vehicle architectures.

 

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities


•    Through Agile team environment; manage end to end the delivery of a HFMS system for a specific vehicle platform/programme.  
•    Assist and contribute to the generation of system level targets and verification plans that are driven by Customer, Function requirements and system Failure Modes.
•    To achieve correct functional modes, efficiency and performance targets; the person in this role must take responsibility for the thermal mechanical and electrical system integration with full alignment with all system and component interfaces. 
•    The use of Systems Engineering discipline as directed by the Core engineering group.
•    Develop and own HFMS system Development and Validation plan (DVP)
•    With respect to thermal fluids system integration, provide technical support and assistance across the wider engineering teams 
•    Undertake any other work as directed by their line manager in connection with thermal fluids systems

 

What you'll need

 

Knowledge, Skills and Experience
 
Essential:

 

•    Relevant degree or equivalent experience in refrigeration and thermodynamics.
•    Experience and knowledge in cooling system thermodynamics.
•    Good relevant experience working in a Systems Engineering environment 
•    Experience of system definition, system architecture development, requirements specification, component and systems integration, system verification and validation.
•    Experience in Model-based Systems Engineering, SysML using tools (eg. IBM Rhapsody)
•    Requirements Management (eg. IBM DOORS)
•    Analytical and problem solving skills using tools (eg. DFMEA, 8D)
•    Track record as an effective team player with strong interpersonal skills
•    Good verbal and written communications


Desirable: 


•    Relevant degree or equivalent experience in vehicle electrical and SW control systems
•    Experience in applying Systems Engineering and in developing complex control systems.
•    Experience and awareness in Control system design methods and tools eg. Matlab Simulink
•    Experience using tools for network analysis, controls calibration and data acquisition tools.  Eg. Canalyzer, INCA, Ipetronik.
•    Experience or a willingness to be involved with overseas vehicle and rig testing. eg. Test locations for thermal test Engineers UK, Europe, Sweden, USA, UAE and various supplier locations.
•    Class 3 and 4PG driver training level (JLR internal process), or equivalent
