JOB TITLE: Senior CAD Engineer - BIW Doors
SALARY: £42,000 - £50,000

The role will involve utilising virtual engineering tools to lead the concept development and problem resolution of BIW Doors with cross-functional teams. This role will develop new technologies, methodologies and the system integration across the business, with input into the geometry of the vehicle programmes.


Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities


  • Responsible for concept development and problem resolution with both Core and Programme teams, with the use of virtual engineering tools
  • Deliver vehicle programme geometry as required
  • Provide support and mentoring to Computer Aided Design Engineers and non-Computer Aided Designer Engineers in defining the information required to produce robust models and system / sub-system solutions
  • Manage and continuously improve the Associative Vehicle Architecture models and development of appropriate standards
  • Undertake any other work as directed by their line manager in connection with their job as may be requested



Knowledge, Skills and experience



  • Significant experience of using virtual engineering tools particularly Catia V5/V6
  • Significant experience creating/using parametric modelling networks to generate geometry and compatible interfaces
  • Technical and practical knowledge of BIW Door componentry and designing for Stamping and Casting processes
  • Previous programme delivery experience, with strong influencing and engagement skills
  • Relevant degree or equivalent experience preferred



  • Experience of concept generation and cross functionality problem resolution
  • Detailed knowledge and understanding of specific car components, or systems and sub-systems
  • Strong project management skills
