POSITION: Senior SW Architecture Chapter Lead

WHAT TO EXPECT

As a Senior SW Architecture Chapter Lead, you will lead the architects in a number of different domains, ensuring quality and consistency in product delivery, providing mentorship, technical guidance and pastoral care for your engineers.

 

You are a skilled software architect who also enjoys coaching, mentoring, and developing associates. You care about delivering value to our customers and improving our solutions and practices across domains. You work with your Chapter Leads in an agile structure to set the standards for the chapter, influence the strategic technical decisions and contribute with your expertise to a cross-domain architecture and capability roadmap.

 

You oversee Chapter Leads across domains who work autonomously, but report directly to you and make sure a coherent solution architecture is in place, while supporting the team in case of critical technical delivery issues. You also support them in growing and developing their knowledge area and ensure alignment on process, methods and tools.

 

Day to day, you will be driving a chapter capability roadmap, while advising on cross domain options & risks, guiding and facilitating tech decisions. You will also drive initiatives to consolidate the way we do architecture and ensure its consistency across different domains. You will sponsor technical spikes and innovation and drive knowledge sharing sessions/content to increase the technical excellence of your engineers.

 

You will have the opportunity to be involved in the development of the future of Software Defined Vehicles and will be influential in the development of the Software platform and features for Jaguar, Defender and Range Rover vehicles across the range.

 

THE ROLE

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Raise quality and consistency in product delivery including Body of Knowledge maintenance
  • Create Capability & Technology Roadmaps to meet current and future needs of the business in support of product roadmaps
  • Upskill chapter members
  • Ensure quality of the solution architecture across products
  • Provide technical support and guidance to product development where needed

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

 

Essential Knowledge, Skills and Experience

 

  • Ability to lead a software organisation
  • Knowledge across several programming languages, including C/C++
  • SW development and architecture in one of: embedded, automotive, aerospace, transportation SW
  • UML Design and requirements elicitation
  • Extensive OS systems / SW platforms knowledge (at least two of Unix/QNX/Autosar/Android)
  • Relevant degree or equivalent experience
  • Knowledge of networking systems and protocols

 

Desirable Knowledge, Skills and Experience
 

  • Experience in safety critical designs
  • Experience in both vehicle and cloud systems
  • Previous experience of business transformation in processes and tools

  • A good communicator with the ability to explain complex ideas to technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • You communicate effectively and build strong partnerships and relationships with all levels of the organization
  • Experience in working across multiple squads and balancing the business and technology priorities
  • You have a mindset of continuous improvement and promote an Agile way of working
  • You are empathic, able to listen to understand and coach chapter members to support their wellbeing and advancement
