JOB TITLE: Software Asset Manager

As the Software Asset Manager you’ll be accountable and responsible for ensuring that the IT Software Assets across the JLR IT Estate are managed and controlled in an effective, efficient and secure manner. Working with Service Partners you’ll ensure that JLR IT Software Assets are provided in a timely manner to those that need to consume them, that they are purchased in the most effective manner and that JLR remains compliant with legal and licencing obligations. 


Key responsibilities and accountabilities:


•    Accountable and responsible for defining and maintaining Software Asset Management (SAM) Policies, Process and Standards to meet the needs of JLR IT Services
•    Accountable and responsible for ensuring that all stakeholders and Service Providers adhere to the agreed JLR SAM Policies, Process and Standards
•    Accountable and responsible for working with relevant stakeholders in JLR to ensure that the most effective licence position is achieved for all vendors and that new purchases are made in the most effective and efficient manner for JLR
•    Accountable for ensuring that Software Asset requests are fulfilled in accordance with applicable Service Levels
•    Accountable and responsible for working with IT Projects to ensure that all licence needs are identified and satisfied in accordance with applicable Service Levels
•    Accountable for ensuring that JLR Software Assets are accurately recorded, tracked and that JLR remains legally and commercially compliant in this context
•    Responsible for monitoring Software Asset spend against the agreed budget to ensure optimal usage of assets
•    Responsible for working with the SACM function to ensure that consistent accurate data is held to describe the Software Asset estate and that reports can be provided to satisfy SAM use cases
•    Influence relevant stakeholders in the wider IT Services on the licence implications of strategic technology choices to achieve the best outcome for JLR
•    Works with resources across the IT Service ecosystem to identify opportunities for service improvement in relation to SAM
•    Management of SAM contract resources
•    Ensures that Risks and Issues relating to SAM are raised and managed according to the agreed IT Risk process
•    Attends the Process Owner forum and other appropriate governance forums
•    Undertake any other work as directed by their line manager in connection with their job as may be requested




Significant experience of IT Software Asset Management in a large scale/global context gained at a managerial level, coupled with experience in IBM, Oracle and SAP licencing.


This position would suit a commercially astute individual who has a good level of technology awareness and strong analytical skills gained in a multi service provider ecosystem. 


ITIL Foundation qualification.
