JOB TITLE: Design Studio Engineer

The successful candidate for the above role will retain their current employer, i.e. if you are a Jaguar employee you will continue to be administered on the Jaguar grading structure with the associated terms and conditions. If you are currently on BAC or EMC terms, you will retain your current employer but will transfer to a Jaguar Landrover contract and the associated terms and conditions. 

 

 

WHAT TO EXPECT

 

Jaguar Land Rover are iconic brands recognised the world over which embody Sustainable Modern Luxury by Design. The Design Studio Engineering Team is an integral part of the Design Organisation supporting Jaguar & Land Rover Creative, Production, Design Quality and Colour & Materials Design Teams on all product lines. The team's purpose is to ensure the integrity of our world class designs are maintained whilst delivering a feasible vehicle. As a Studio Design Engineer you will be, reporting to a Studio Engineering Manager, you will typically be part of a team of four and responsible for the Design and Feasibility development of a single vehicle zone for a single car-line (but not limited to).

 

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Create feasible CAD based geometric proposals to primarily deliver Design Intent.
  • Providing proactive input to the Creative Design teams throughout ensuring the aesthetic development remains feasible for given vehicle zone(s).
  • Assess compatibility of Design Intent against Programme Assumptions and Attribute Targets as described in the PCDS Design deliverables (utilising former the Feasibility Checkpoint process).
  • Generate feasible creative alternative proposals where necessary in order to meet the Design Intent which challenge assumptions, propose alternative attribute balances and are capable of delivering high Design and Crafted Quality results.
  • Prioritise issues and set the agenda for weekly Design Feasibility Meetings to discuss and resolve issues at a working level between internal and external customers.

 

WHAT YOU’LL NEED


As the Studio Engineer, you will need to have experience working within an engineering mechanical manufacturing organisation. To hold a formal qualification within engineering such as degree or apprenticeship. Strong communication skills, due to liaising with cross function internal stakeholders and departments. Having knowledge and experience of new product introduction or new product development would be advantageous.


ESSENTIAL

  • Experience using 3D CAD packages.
  • Reading and following 3D Design Schematics
  • Experience working within an engineering environment

 

DESIRABLE

  • Experience working with NPD/ NPI
  • To have used Catia v6
  • Working within highly regulated industries such as automotive, aerospace, Manufacturing etc.
