The Digital Product Platform group in Portland, Oregon works with internal engineering groups and external vendors to build new technologies for JLR’s future vehicle product lines. What you will be doing: 

  • Leading and growing a high performing team of embedded software developers and system engineers in their day-to-day activities across all projects at JLR Portland, driving team hiring, mentorship, performance evaluations, and growth plans.
  • Working with the Portland management team to build site objectives, align joint efforts, and drive teamwork both internally and within all JLR engineering offices.
  • Building and maintaining relationships with stakeholders across JLR and its global offices to ensure all work meets requirements, is ready for integration to our products and platforms, and is in alignment with business objectives and strategies.
  • Evaluating new and emerging technologies from an automotive context and introducing them to our global business.
  • Identifying and initiating new product development opportunities that advance JLR business and engineering objectives, in customer features, development methodologies, and coding tools and techniques.
  • Working with vendors, evaluating their products and services, defining and delivering our requirements, and setting integration plans for their products and technologies into our products and platforms.
  • Mentoring and advising developers on the best software development practices and drive their adoption across the organization.
  • Acting as a representative of JLR to relevant standardization bodies and industry groups.
  • Taking a technical leadership role in the JLR software domain – be the specialist others within the company look to for advice and technical direction.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

What you will need: 

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required
  • 5+ years of professional software development or systems engineering experience required
  • 2+ years of management experience required
  • Demonstrated experience in leading the delivery and/or design of complex embedded software or software systems required
  • Experience working with internal partners development teams and outside suppliers/vendors
  • Professional experience as an embedded software developer
  • Experience with build, test, and deployment automation infrastructure
  • Demonstrable experience of working with Open Source Communities
  • Working knowledge of QNX, Android and/or LINUX operating systems beneficial
  • Detailed working knowledge of Agile scrum methodologies and continuous S/W integration are essential
  • Knowledge of Dassault Systems software (MSOSA, TRM) desirable
  • Familiarity with ASIL, ISO26262 ASPICE, AutoSAR standards desirable
  • PMP, PRINCE2 or similar certifications is desirable but not necessary
  • Excellent communication skills, including technical writing and business presentation
