Body CAE and integration department aims is to lead Jaguar Landrover design in the development of light, safe, quiet and durable vehicles, achieving this by the application of the best processes and CAE techniques early in the design cycle.

Body CAE (MDO) is part of the Body CAE Core group with responsibility for providing Body CAE support to all programmes and mainly at the APC stage using multi-disciplinary optimisation tools. The group is also responsible in developing and improvement CAE capabilities for body engineering across all attributes.



Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities


Capable CAE engineer to integrate into small Advanced CAE methods team to carry out concept CAE activities using powerful optimisation technologies which considers multiple attributes (i.e. Crash, NVH, durability), the ideal person will also be able to use and develop simplified simulation models that can be used to rapidly understand design drivers. We are requiring a willing and able engineer to assist in developing new CAE technologies at Jaguar Landrover. This will include developing processes for refinement of current methods and longer-term development towards Jaguar Landrover Advanced simulation strategic aims as well as identifying and documenting the promising future direction of the use of MDO at Jaguar Landrover to explore relationship between complex system design initiatives. You will also actively promote the collaboration between various disciplines especially the CAE/CAD integration using parametric geometries and the advanced MDO tools.


  • Lead / plan the development of vehicle system, subsystem and component using MDO tools to meet all design requirements.
  • Use effectively the MDO to drive design and be able to carry out trade-offs between attributes.
  • Lead design studies using optimisation tools to support the Body in delivery of all body programs and identify any shortfalls against key functional attribute requirements (Veh. Safety / Dynamics / NVH / Durability, weight and cost).
  • Interface with attributes and design teams.
  • Coordinate and lead the feedback of results as required through design / project reviews.
  • Develop design solutions to support Body CoC engineering and cost status against key program gateways
  • Champion/support the development of new CAE tools for system optimisation to support concept design studies and enhance MDO technique.



Skills, experience and qualifications required  


  • Relevant engineering Degree qualification
  • Solvers in any: LS-Dyna, Nastran, Abaqus, OptiStruct
  • Post /Pre processimg in any: PRIMER, Hyperwork, ANSA, SFE CONCEPT
  • Experience in any: Altair HyperStudy. LS-OPT, modeFRONTIER, VE, Genesis or other optimisation packages.
