WHAT TO EXPECT
The CMM Technician position is to provide an independent measurement service for the Wolverhampton EMC site, across the machining and assembly areas, including blocks, heads, cranks and supplied parts. The role will be supporting investigation activities for process, teardown, supplied parts and warranty and the implementation and monitoring of the department's compliance with corporate initiatives/ Standards (IATF16949 etc.)

 

WHAT YOU’LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR

  • Measurement and analysis of Powertrain components.
  • Measurement of product (prototype and series components) produced by the manufacturing process to understand capability and ensure variance is understood and controlled.
  • Programme and set up CMM (Coordinate Measure Machine) equipment to support operational requirements
  • Analyse measurement data and create appropriate reports that enable informed decision making.
  • Measurement and validation of supplier components to support business requirements as/when required
  • Undertake any other work as directed by their line manager in connection with their job as may be requested from time to time

    
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
Essential:

  • Candidates should have an indentured apprenticeship or minimum Level 3 vocational qualification in a STEM subject ( Science, Technical, Engineering & Mathematics)
  • Experience in programming Coordinate Measurement Machines
  • Have a detailed knowledge of metrology, first principles and measurement equipment
  • Can competently read and interpret engineering drawings
  • Computer literate including specialist metrology software, Microsoft Office and CAD, Vis-plus experience
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work in fast paced environment and to tight deadlines
  • Good verbal and written communications

Desirable: 

  • Powertrain Experience
  • SPC Experience
